Our Mission
Coro Allegro, a chorus for members and friends of the LGBT communities, affirms, strengthens, and enriches the lives of its members and the broader community through the presentation of outstanding performances of classical choral music. We focus on:
- Providing access to choral music to a broad audience
- Performing works by a diverse array of composers
- Serving as a model of a successful and valued GLBT community group through musical excellence and visibility
- Creating an affirming, welcoming and supportive environment for a diverse membership.
History
Coro Allegro was founded in 1990 to provide Boston with a GLBT chorus specializing in classical repertoire. Initially composed of 20 singers, Coro has grown to more than 60 members, and under the direction of David Hodgkins it has become one of Boston's most highly regarded choral ensembles.
Auditions
Coro Allegro is holding auditions for experienced singers (all voice parts)
on Thursday evening, September 9th, and Saturday morning, September 11th,
in Church of the Covenant at 67 Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay.
