Thomas Lissey
General Manager
Thomas Lissey took over as General Manager for Coro Allegro in May 2010. His previous work in non-profit management includes administrative positions with First Parish in Cambridge (First Church Unitarian Universalist), Greater Boston Food Bank, Handel & Haydn Society, International Institute of Boston, MIT Sloan School of Management, Old South Meeting House, and the Unitarian Universalist Association.
A native of New Haven, Connecticut and a graduate of Wesleyan University, Mr. Lissey currently holds the position of Music Director at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford, as well as Choir Director at Congregation Shalom, a Reform synagogue in North Chelmsford.
As a vocal coach and collaborative pianist, Mr. Lissey has worked with The Boston Conservatory, Charlestown Chorale, Craig Wich Voice Studio, Institute for Advanced Theater Training (American Repertory Theater), Longy School of Music, Mishawum Choral Society (Woburn), Suzuki School of Newton, and Treble Chorus of New England. As a choral musician, he has sung bass with Boston A Cappella, Boston Chamber Ensemble, Cambridge Madrigal [now Chamber] Singers, Figgy Puddin’ Carolers, and Spectrum Singers.
Mr. Lissey has won four awards from the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theaters, including Best Musical Direction in 2004 for his work on Ragtime at the Footlight Club in Jamaica Plain. In 2009, he conducted a high-school cast in The Young Company’s production of The Who’s Tommy at Stoneham Theater. He has also directed music for productions with Mystic Players (Medford), Northeastern University Theater Department, Wakefield Repertory Theater, and Winthrop Playmakers.
