Fenwick Smith,
2010 Daniel Pinkham Award Recipient

Renowned flutist Fenwick Smith will be honored as the 2010 recipient of the Daniel Pinkham Award.

A member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 2006, Mr. Smith currently participates in the Boston Chamber Music Society and performs on baroque flute with Boston’s leading early-music ensembles. Mr. Smith’s annual Jordan Hall recitals occupy a prominent place in Boston’s concert calendar. As a soloist Mr. Smith has introduced works by Lukas Foss, John Harbison, and Christopher Rouse to Boston audiences. His discography includes premiere recordings of works by Copland, Foote, Pinkham, Rorem, and many other composers. He is also a longtime teacher at New England Conservatory. In 2008, Mr. Smith was named Musician of the Year by the Boston Musicians Association.
